This loop covers a wide swing of Mountaineer Country, out of Kingwood through Rowlesburg, down to Grafton, over to Mannington, and back up through Core before closing the loop. It's a bigger day than most, and it earns that size with real variety: river towns, a working dam, a round barn, and a park built at the source of Mother's Day itself.
The roads roll more than they twist out here. Wide valleys, long straightaways broken up by river crossings, and a few solid climbs. This is a route for riders who want distance and don't mind stopping often.
Plan a full day, and get an early start. A hundred and forty-three miles adds up.
