Cass Scenic Railroad State Park preserves an original early-1900s logging town and its steep-grade Shay steam locomotives, which now haul visitors up the mountain to Bald Knob for big highland views. The restored company houses rent as lodging, there's a museum, a restaurant (the Last Run), and bike rentals - a full-day destination in the Potomac Highlands near Snowshoe. Train season runs roughly May through October.
